Alpine Modern Opens Modern Mountain Living Cafe

The space that held the quaint Boulder staple that used to be Delilah’s Pretty Good Grocery on 9th street near The Hill has been transformed and updated to the ultra-sleek Alpine Modern Cafe. Those who once stopped in to buy ice cream as kids on a hot summer’s day can now pop in, all grown up, for an elegant nibble or artisan coffee.

Just as Delilah’s was a landmark in the neighborhood, Alpine Modern is fast becoming the same. Serving Scandinavian inspired sandwiches, small plates, pastries, and fine-tuned artisan coffee it covers the standard coffee shop requirements, but the minimal clean style of the place goes that extra mile and somehow makes you relish the simple things in life. This upscale addition adds a whole new dimension to the area once thought to be only the realm of the college students. Alpine Modern shows off a more sophisticated side of “The Hill”.

The Alpine Modern brand, created by Lon McGowan, encompasses the new cafe on 9th Street, the retail store on 13th Street, and The Alpine Modern Magazine, “a coffee-table quarterly that explores elevated living, architecture and design in mountain regions around the world”. It’s perfect to peruse whilst sipping a hot cup of chai in new their modern minimal cafe. The company also operates and curates the gift store at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art.

Keeping in line with their mission, “to bring modern design and inspiring experiences to those passionate about living at altitude”, Alpine Modern blends simplistic and minimal spaces with the easy, outdoorsy, nature loving vibe that Boulder is so well known for. It truly is a perfect fit. If you live anywhere near the Hill we’re betting it will only take one taste for the Alpine Modern Cafe to become your local passion place.
